Ok, Since blowing the other Mi16 I have finally made a start on the new car. I sent off the sump and sandwich plate to Peter Taylor from Taylor Engineering who did the baffelled sump and windage tray, Great Job Peter, I also fitted a heavy duty oil pressure relief spring and a 26 tooth oil pump sprocket and chain. Peter also included a oil pump baffle plate.
I pulled the motor out and stirpped it, cleaned the engine and fitted the new parts, I have attached some photos of the rebuild explaining on the way what has been done!.
The Car Early Peugeot 405 Mi16 (Alloy Engine 160bhp)
Fitting the Oil Pump Baffle Plate.
After removing the crank end plate to access the pump sprocket,
slipped off the small sprocket and fitted the larger 25 tooth sprocket and new longer chain.
This photo shows the difference in size, gives 25% (from memory) more oil flow!
The Windage tray is then fitted, this stops the crank 'frothing' the oil.
Then refitted the oil pump.
Finally fitting the baffled sump, note the partition with trap door.
This will keep oil in the sump on heavy brakes and hard cornering,
Standard motor do not have this, hence why my last motor spun a bearing.
All fitted up and now to degrease the motor then back in later.
Also today i degreased the engine bay and it has NO rust at all, came up like new!
Done some work this week on the car.
Now all back together and looking great!
